 Course Description:  

 Selected laboratory exercises paralleling the topics in BIOL 2113. The laboratory exercises for this course include body organization, cell structure and functions, tissue classifications, integumentary system, skeletal system, muscular system, and nervous sensory systems.

Attendance Policy:

 A student can be absent 15% during the semester without penalty. If you are over 15 minutes late for class, you will be considered tardy. Three tardies = one absence.

Absence from class will result in missing graded assignments than cannot be made up.

The instructor is not responsible for withdrawing students from class.

 Academic Grade: Students will receive an academic grade based on numerical averages. The numerical grade is converted to a letter grade according to the following scale:

No make-up test will be allowed unless verification of self-hospitalization or obituary of loved one is presented.

Absolutely no make-up quizzes allowed. (If your computer doesn’t work, go to the campus library, public library, or access the quiz on your phone internet.)

No make-up homework assignments allowed.

  If you fail to take an assessment during the scheduled timeframe availability, you will receive a grade of zero (0).

 Students who cannot complete the course must withdraw by completing a Drop/Add form or an Official Withdrawal Form before the mid-term withdrawal date. Students who stop attending classes without completing the proper documentation will receive an academic grade of F for the term.

 Any student who has attended at least some portion of one class period will be submitted as “stopped attending” upon such time that he/she fails to attend class for a period of two weeks (traditional or hybrid) or fails to log on to on-line class for a period of two weeks. Once a student has been submitted as “stopped attending” only the VPAA can reinstate him/her to class.

 Work Ethics: Work ethics skills are vital in the workplace. Southern Crescent’s programs incorporate work ethics into curriculum and all students are expected to utilize appropriate work ethics while enrolled. The following work ethics skills will be taught in detail and enforced once you enter into your respective program:  Appearance, Attendance, Attitude, Communication, Organizational Skills, Character, Cooperation, Productivity, Respect, and Teamwork. In this course we will review the specific work ethic traits which you are expected to exercise throughout the course.

 Cheating Policy: Deception in which a student misrepresents that they have mastered information on an academic exercise; submitting work that is not your own, giving or receiving aid unauthorized by the instructor on assignments or exams, tampering with grades or taking part in obtaining or distributing any part of an exam, and/or plagiarism. Students caught cheating will receive zeros on assignments and tests. Upon the second incident, the student will receive a course grade of F.

 Classroom/Lab, Campus Policies, and Emergencies:

 Classroom/Lab:  No food or drink is allowed in classrooms.  Please turn off cell phones and refrain from using headphones in class.

 Campus:  Security badges must be worn at all times while on campus!  Only park in designated student parking spaces. Violators will receive a parking ticket issued by campus security. Use designated smoking areas only. Please utilize the recycle bins on campus for discarded paper and plastic bottles. Please make every effort to keep our campus clean!

Emergencies:  In case of an emergency, dial 9-911. Emergency evacuation plans are located in each classroom. Familiarize yourself with emergency exits.

Students are expected to read all course chapters before attending class. Lectures and class discussions (as well as labs) serve as enrichment to your learning; however, the student must actively participate in the learning process.  (In other words, you need to read your book and study.)

Grades will be recorded in Angel for both lab and lecture.
